Extremely early onset of nonlinear viscoelasticity in dynamic shear of ideally monodisperse <scp>DNA</scp>

This work reports that the rheology of ideally monodisperse lambda ( λ $$ \lambda ) phage DNA solutions is extremely sensitive to applied strain in dynamic oscillatory experiments. exhibits nonlinearity at strains far smaller than what observed conventional synthetic polymers. However, it found polydisperse calf thymus does not exhibit extreme sensitivity. By mixing samples with DNA, we correlate molecular weight distribution (or polydispersity) onset nonlinear viscoelasticity. We demonstrate sensitivity weakens as polydispersity index increases. first correlating inception viscoelasticity entangled polymer system such solution samples. The experimental data suggests systems are very and have a early transition regime. conclude nominally polymers sufficiently monodispersed onset.
